Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Shipboard Precision Machinist to join the MPES Services Jacksonville, FL team. The shipboard machinist will perform all duties required to set-up, adjust, operate, and maintain electrically powered metal machining equipment such as a milling machine or lathe. The equipment to be used shipboard will be 2 axis and 3 axis portable milling machines. Must have experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic electrical connections.

Essential Functions:

• Utilize metal machining methods including cutting speeds, cutting feeds, surface smoothness, flatness.
• Will work with vertical and horizontal milling machines, line boring equipment, and lathes is required.
• Use precision measuring devices such as micrometers, depth gauges, angle indicators, drilling, and tapping of threaded holes.
• Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.

Qualifications: 

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

• Must have five (5) years machine shop experience performing metal machining utilizing portable and / or machine shop equipment. Certified trade school training a plus. 
• Must be able to travel up to 60%
• Must be able to provide own hand tools specific to the trade.
• U.S citizenship required. 

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Familiarization with Optical Alignment a plus
