Job Description:

The Sr. Specialist, Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that delivered products and/or services conform to contractual and the Company’s requirements. The SQE will work closely with their assigned suppliers on activities such as Early Supplier Engagements, First Article Inspections, Root Cause / Corrective Action activities, and audits. The SQE will also work with the assigned Contract Source Inspector to ensure that product releases are timely and meet the expectations of the internal customers. Up to 50% travel is required.

 

Essential Functions:

20% - Serve as the Supplier Quality Engineering First Article Inspection (AS9102) subject matter expert. Support the Supplier Quality Engineering department and suppliers in the FAI review, approval, training, and maximizing First Time Acceptance. Experience in the FAI Planning, Net Inspect, and AI platforms utilized on a routine basis.

20% - Visit suppliers to review product & process issues. Interface with internal and external customers; i.e., engineering, manufacturing, supplier, procurement to ensure requirements are met. Analyze supplier processes and planning to verify compliance with purchase orders, engineering drawings, processes, specifications, etc. Review and approval of supplier FAIs IAW AS9102.

20% - Visit suppliers and perform investigation and root cause analysis to drive improvements into their processes.  Be accountable for assigned suppliers' performance and ensure suppliers are performing with a 100% quality rating.

10% - Be an active contributor in Early Supplier Engagements such as Post Award Reviews (PAR), Supplier Manufacturing Readiness Reviews, and Control Plan activity. Perform as the leading contributor for PAR-Lites.

 

10% - Work with suppliers to resolve issues with purchase order inspection packages. Investigate and report supplier quality history as requested by quality engineering or Quality & Mission Assurance (Q&MA) management.

 

10% - Create reporting documents to status Supplier's Performance, Non-Conformance History, impact to the Company's CoPQ, and other metrics as assigned.

 

5% - Participates in managing the supplier ratings/scorecard system and supporting periodic cross-functional supplier performance review meetings.

 

5% - Perform periodic source inspections at assigned suppliers.

 

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, quality or other appropriate discipline and five (5) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license. Employees who drive on company business to carry out job-related duties must possess a valid driver’s license for the class of vehicle driven and meet automobile insurability requirements of the Company. Eligibility for employment for those who do not meet this requirement due to disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Must be able to obtain clearance if required.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in manufacturing and/or inspections required.
  • Strong problem solving, RCCA and investigation experience required.
  • Certified Quality Engineer strongly preferred.
  • Ability to synthesize and analyze data from several sources and develop a plan to take action based upon the data.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 Aerospace Quality Management System Standard and AS9102, First Article Inspection Standard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a close-knit team environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
