Job Description:

 

Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Project Engineer for our Huntsville, AL location. The Project Engineer role involves performing and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management. Under limited general direction, you will be responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks and overseeing special studies and experiments.

 

This role will work with new suppliers standing up new production lines. Travel to suppliers will be required for this role. A background in manufacturing processes is highly sought after.

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Theories, principles and practices of engineering and project management methods.
  • Familiarity with standard engineering tools and practices
  • Use of engineering test equipment, CAD, and computer applications with various office and engineering software applications.
  • Rocket propulsion component(s) and theory of operation.
  • Understanding and/or leading Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Read and interpret specifications (also write) and technical drawings.
  • Conduct technical and programmatic risk assessments.
  • Interpret and evaluate engineering problems and statements.
  • Use a variety of test and measurement equipment to interpret data.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
  • Travel: 25% (Note, some travel could be international).

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior Project Engineer experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior Project Engineer experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior Project Engineer experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience with solid propellant propulsion projects is highly desired.
  • Experience working with manufacturing processes is strongly desired.
  • Experience working with Suppliers to meet technical requirements.
  • CAD knowledge is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required.
