Job Description:
The Missile Solutions CAD Services team at the Aerojet Rocketdyne segment of L3Harris is currently seeking an experienced highly motivated Product Definition specialist that will be responsible for generating and verifying product definition supporting the design engineers across MSSL sites.
Provide design support to engineers on technical projects and/or products, maintaining, organizing, compiling, and manipulating technical data. Prepares PTC Creo or Siemens NX CAD models and associative engineering drawings (product definition) using PTC Windchill PLM System. Performs mathematical calculations and simple tolerance analysis per engineering specifications. Recommend alternative design solutions to problems and obstacles. Checks engineering product definition for compliance and conformity to established standards, specifications, and design directives.
Essential Functions:
Under general direction and following established procedures in accordance with contractual requirements and Aerojet Rocketdyne policy and procedures, this position performs engineering design assignments for preparation of engineering design documents and maintaining the design disclosure. Typical responsibilities include:
- Prepare product definition (CAD models, drawings, EBOMs) for engineering designs using Creo or NX integrated with Windchill PLM System.
- Perform checking verification of Product Definition associated with models, drawings, and PLM attributes and relationships to industry, company, and program standards.
- Prepare and work from design layouts and/or preliminary conceptual design layouts.
- Generate or validate tolerance stack up calculations and resulting GD&T based on ASME Y14.5.
- Ensure adherence to model centric design philosophy (model driven drawings) via verification of CAD model data to drawing content.
- Utilizing proficient experience with digital markup tools to communicate PD verification findings and suggestions to design staff members.
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior design/drafting experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior design/drafting experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior design/drafting experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 1-2 years of experience with CAD software tools (PTC Creo or Siemens NX preferred) along with experience using CAD database management and PLM tools (PTC Windchill preferred) is desired.
- 1 year of product definition in Aerospace or similar related industry is a plus.
- Familiar with ASME Y14.5 and ability to read and interpret product definition and related specifications per ASME Y14.100.
- Knowledge of solid propulsion systems design and manufacturing methods is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
