Job Description:

The Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment of L3Harris is currently seeking a Sr. Associate, Project Engineer. This role will be located at our Missile Solutions Headquarters located in Huntsville, AL.

 

The Project Engineer role involves performing and coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management and technical leads for the RAPTOR Program. This role is responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks and overseeing special studies and experiments. Onsite engineering support is crucial in support of rapid prototyping and hardware testing.

 

The Project Engineer will be expected to collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines, operations, quality, and supply chain functions to ensure successful component completion. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Utilize existing knowledge of Torpedo programs to assist in rapid development of paperwork (Specifications, Test Plans, Statements of Work, etc.)
  • Support Engineering teams on Underwater Propulsion development and production program tasks/program resolution.
  • Monitor technical progress and interface with Program Management, AR customers, and other AR functional organizations to understand and develop resolutions to program technical issues.
  • Provide technical consultation to PM to assist in White Paper development and other Proposal necessities.
  • Conceive and plan tests or other actions to assist the development of new hardware and objectives.
  • Facilitate testing and post-test analysis to ensure hardware has successfully met all required objectives. In event of a test failure, provide technical evaluations on the issue and solutions to program technical lead and/or customer.
  • Work with vendors to facilitate quick and accurate solutions to potential non-conformances. Utilize prior program experience to aid in technical solutions to potential problems.
  • Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security clearance.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior project engineering experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior project engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior project engineering experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Prior design, test, and manufacturing experience of Torpedo programs is a plus.
  • Experience with Model based systems engineering.
  • Strong supplier/vendor management experience.
  • Experience performing development testing and hardware verification tests.
