We are seeking a Senior Associate Test Engineer to support validation and acceptance testing of complex aerospace hardware at our Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) located in Huntsville, AL, which is our inert manufacturing facility for fabrication and assembly of composite rocket motor hardware. Test Engineering team members author, develop and maintain pressure test and other acceptance test procedures, including the underlying software. They also manage and maintain the test cell facility, controls, instrumentation, and other equipment. This is a dynamic team that requires motivated, self-starting individuals with hands-on experience who must be able to follow company procedures and requirements for the testing of advanced, man-rated, and high value aerospace hardware. 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Author, develop, initiate and maintain validation and acceptance testing processes and instructions for advanced composite parts.
  • Tasked with applying electronic theory, principles of electrical circuits, electrical testing procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and/or training to shop floor, design and management teams.  Analyze engineering drawings and specifications in support of developing robust and advanced test procedures and tooling. Interface with all of the related support groups for processes to ensure accuracy, control and safety of the personnel and quality of the hardware.
  • Perform investigations of nonconforming hardware and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Present testing processes at customer readiness reviews and present process changes to customers at change board meetings.
  • Occasional off-shift and weekend work required to support manufacturing schedules.
  • Travel: 5%.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior Engineering experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior Engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior Engineering experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering is desired.
  • Test Engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience with validation and acceptance testing of complex assemblies/systems.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and HMI’s and programming them with Ladder Logic, LabVIEW, or equivalent.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and control systems.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic pressure systems.
  • Experience designing and building test panels and PID drawings.
  • Experience with software development, testing and validation.
