Job Description:
We are seeking a Specialist, Quality Engineer to support our state‑of‑the‑art Advanced Manufacturing Facility – South (AMF‑S) near the Huntsville airport. AMF‑S is our inert manufacturing facility for the fabrication and assembly of rocket motor hardware, encompassing approximately 500,000 square feet of manufacturing space. We are answering the call from the Department of War and are looking for a motivated professional to help achieve that mission.

The Specialist, Quality Engineer is an experienced professional with strong knowledge of the quality engineering discipline and practical understanding of project management. This role may manage projects or processes with general supervision. The position requires effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures. The Specialist will recommend process and system enhancements and work to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.

Essential Functions:
• Create plans for developing and/or transferring manufacturing operations from one facility to another.
• Apply modern quality principles, concepts, and methods to routine aerospace and manufacturing operations, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
• Analyze defect data and implement data‑driven corrective actions.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, customer quality requirements, and company quality requirements to ensure compliance.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address product and process non‑conformances and compliance gaps.
• Demonstrate GD&T fundamentals and understanding of drawing requirements for manufacturing.
• Assess the need for First Article Inspections (FAIs) based on trigger events defined in AS9102 and/or contractual flow‑down, and facilitate their completion.
• Implement AS9100 requirements into standard work.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:
• Advanced GD&T knowledge, including datums, MMC, circularity, cylindricity, runout, feature control frames, feature of size, etc.
• Experience with SPC (Statistical Process Control), including use of Cp and Cpk methodology to improve manufacturing processes.
• Lean/Six Sigma certification (preference for Green or Black Belt).
• Experience collaborating in a Microsoft 365 environment with proficiency in applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
