Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our Huntsville, AL Headquarters location. The Senior Specialist, Project Engineering role will act as an IPT lead/CAM on the NGI (Next Generation Interceptor) program.
This role involves leading, performing, and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management and technical leadership. This role may have control account management (CAM) responsibility for the assigned IPT. Under minimal direction, you will be responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks, overseeing special studies, and coordinating testing activities. Additionally, you will coordinate ballistic, thermal, and structural analyses, as well as perform post-test examination, analyses, and reporting while supporting the program technical lead.
Essential Functions:
- Provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering techniques
- Read, interpret, and write specifications and technical documents
- Prepare technical and design requirements in support of project goals
- Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments
- Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.
- Understanding and/or leads Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process.
- May be assigned Earned Value Management duties.
- Review and approve engineering drawings.
- Travel up to 10%.
- Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior Project Engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior Project Engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior Project Engineering experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline is preferred.
- Four (4) or more years of experience with solid propellant propulsion projects is highly desired. CAD knowledge is desirable.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required.
- Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical professionals at all levels.
- Ability to establish and maintain priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, in a collaborative, dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment.
- Strong time management skills.
- CAM experience desired.
