Job Description:

L3 Harris is a world-recognized Aerospace and Defense leader that provides propulsion and energetics to domestic and international markets. We are a leading provider in both the solid and liquid propulsion market areas, as well as the number one provider in the tactical segment area of solid propulsion.

We are seeking a Senior Associate, Production Planning to work at our new state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Huntsville, AL, which will be our inert manufacturing facility for fabrication and assembly of composite rocket motor hardware.

In this role, you will be part of our Scheduling and Material Planning organization which plays a key role from proposals to product delivery. We are looking for a highly analytical, self-motivated, and organized individual. Candidates will work in a dynamic position with a diverse product range.

Essential Functions:

  • 50% - Production Control
    • Review Material Requirements Plan (MRP); problem-solve exception messages.
    • Release and manage shop orders for both Bill of Material (BOM) and independent demand requirements.
    • Identify and initiate program inventory surplus/close out.
    • Ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained to support lean production and coordinate movement to production floor.
    • Perform regular inventory reconciliation and counting to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • 30% - Senior Analyst Support
    • Analyze program demands for accuracy.
    • Maintain horizontal plan or line of balance for consumable items
    • Initiate material transfers
  • 20% - Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned to support the specific program efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior production planning experience; Or a Graduate Degree with 2 years of prior production planning experience; Or in Lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior production planning experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Willingness to travel and flexibility to work extended hours. Must be willing and able to travel regularly to other Aerojet Rocketdyne facilities and suppliers across the country.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management, lean manufacturing, assembly and ATP processes.
  • Technical knowledge of solid rocket propulsion, explosive and pyrotechnic devices, electromechanical actuators and actuator control systems preferred.
  • Ability to use technical knowledge and experience to evaluate plans, processes and results of the supporting team is desired.
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivation, strong leadership skills, and interpreting program management, engineering and supplier demands in a continuously changing environment with minimal guidance.
  • Solid working knowledge of project management methods within the defense acquisition environment including program planning, integrated master scheduling, budgeting and earned value management.
  • Ability to implement product design and development stage gate process (reviews for design, build, and test) is desired.
  • Demonstrated ability in team building, leadership and delegation skills to achieve project objectives is desired.
  • Experience in leading, encouraging, reviewing and critiquing work of supporting team members to maximize program success.
  • Capable of defining and negotiating task objectives, scope description and completion criteria for specific and broad activities as well. The applicant will be required to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously and to make real-time plan adjustments in response to problems and unexpected interim results.
  • Working capability in the use of typical office computer programs for conduct of program management such as MS PowerPoint (presentations, logic diagrams), MS Project (basic scheduling), MS Excel (entering formulas, graphing, developing spreadsheets), and MS Word (tables, program plans).
