Job Description:

 

The Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment of L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Principal, Program Management position to lead In-Space Propulsion (ISP) strategic capacity expansion and risk reduction for ISP and similar Aerojet Rocketdyne programs.  This position reports to the L3Harris Aerojet Rocketdyne In-Space Propulsion General Manager. The selected individual will function as the Integrated Product Team (IPT) leader for strategic capacity and risk reduction programs. As the IPT leader, this position is responsible for cost, schedule and technical execution of the strategic project(s) and is the point of contact between programs, functional managers, site leadership, contractors, subcontractors, cross sector groups and other stakeholders to execute projects, resolve issues and monitor performance to schedule and budget for strategic capacity and risk reduction products. 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Function as the Integrated Product Team (IPT) leader with responsibilities, accountability and authority to execute on the development of strategic projects that provide additional capability and risk reduction products for existing and future In-Space Propulsion programs.
  • Function as the point-of-contact between the programs, functional managers, site leadership, contractors, subcontractors, cross sector groups and other stakeholders to coordinate efforts to ensure successful resolution of In-Space Propulsion program issues.
  • Responsible for briefing internal and external customers, as well as upper management on all aspects of responsible projects/products.
  • The PM directs the work of functional employees and stakeholders in the execution of the assigned projects while establishing and monitoring performance to schedules, plans and milestones. The selected individual must set the highest ethical standards for self and others.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining baselines for suppliers, ensuring these baselines support the overall program performance.
  • Shall demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently to lead and drive action items to closure.
  • Actively supports the project Risks and Opportunities process.
  • The selected candidate must be able to support 25% business travel as required to achieve objectives.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior A&D experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior A&D experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior A&D experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in space propulsion systems, projects and programs.
  • 3+ years of earned value management (EVM) experience.
  • 5+ years of experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • 5+ years of experience managing subcontractors and/or suppliers.
  • Active US Secret Security Clearance.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Active U.S. Top Secret Secruity Clearance. 
  • A strong technical and business background in relation to end to end space propulsion systems. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the aerospace industry space propulsion supplier base.
  • Knowledge Earned Value Management (EVMS) and standard program reporting metrics.
  • Experience planning, organizing, and directing work across multiple disciplines that provides best value solutions to the customer and L3Harris.
  • Knowledge of space and strategic missile propulsion programs (e.g. Trident, Minute Man, Sentinel, NGI, SLS, Vulcan, etc).
  • Pursuit and proposal development experience.
  • Objective thinker, problem solver with ability to execute challenging tasks to completion is preferred.
  • Strategic thinker with capacity to manage business complexity and to identify and focus on top priorities.
  • Experience implementing strategies to influence external stakeholders for business advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
  • Ability to develop broad, cooperative relationships with numerous groups and individuals, even when having no direct authority over them.
  • Can interpret, condense, and present findings to audiences with variable skill sets and experience levels.
