Aerojet Rocketdyne, a L3Harris segment is a world-recognized aerospace and defense leader providing propulsion and energetics to its space, missile defense, and strategic, tactical missile and armaments customers throughout domestic and international markets. We offer a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles, missile defense, and advanced hypersonic propulsion. At this location produce and develop a variety of energetic assemblies for rocket propulsion.

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Manufacturing Engineer with a background in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or any other engineering discipline to join our Manufacturing Strategy and Growth team located in Huntsville Alabama. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your engineering skills in a green field environment. The ideal candidate will be a creative individual with strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for developing innovative solutions.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Assist in the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve production efficiency, product quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Utilize engineering principles from aerospace and mechanical engineering to solve complex manufacturing challenges.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support the development of new manufacturing technologies and techniques.
  • Participate in the creation and implementation of process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Contribute to the development of technical documentation, including process flow diagrams, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support the implementation of safety and quality standards in the manufacturing environment.
  • Travel: 25%

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior Manufacturing Engineering (large equipment) experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior Manufacturing Engineering (large equipment) experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior Manufacturing Engineering experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Extensive experience with PLC Controls, Autoclaves and Ovens is preferred.
  • Experience with transition product lines in aerospace defense environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and generate innovative ideas.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Catia or NX) and other engineering tools is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Passion for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black.
  • Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) is preferred.
  • Experience standing up new factory and Product Lines is preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of project management is a plus.
