Job Description:

 

L3 Harris is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our Huntsville, AL Headquarters location or Camden, AR. The Lead, Project Engineering role will act as a Deputy Chief Engineer/Lead Project Engineer on the NGI (Next Generation Interceptor) program.

 

This role involves leading, performing, and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management and technical leadership. This role may have control account management (CAM) responsibility. Under minimal direction, you will be responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks, overseeing special studies, augmenting and directly supporting the Program Chief Engineer across multiple IPTs. Additionally, you will focus on helping resolve the more challenging issues escalated from the IPTs and ensuring coordination between them.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering techniques.
  • Read, interpret, and write specifications and technical documents.
  • Prepare technical and design requirements in support of project goals.
  • Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments.
  • Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.
  • Understanding and/or leads Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process.
  • May be assigned Earned Value Management duties.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings.
  • Travel: 10%.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior Project Engineer experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior Project Engineer experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior Project Engineer experience. 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or related discipline is preferred.
  • Six or more years of experience with solid propellant propulsion projects is highly desired.
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical professionals at all levels.
  • Ability to establish and maintain priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • CAM experience desired.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong ethical judgment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required.
