Job Description:

 

The Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment of L3Harris is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our Huntsville, AL Missile Solutions Sector Headquarters location.  The Lead Project Engineering role will act as an IPT lead/CAM on the NGI (Next Generation Interceptor) program. This role involves leading, performing, and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management and technical leadership. This role may have control account management (CAM) responsibility for the assigned IPT. Under minimal direction, you will be responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks, overseeing special studies, and coordinating testing activities. Additionally, you will coordinate ballistic, thermal, and structural analyses, as well as perform post-test examination, analyses, and reporting while supporting the program technical lead.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering technique.
  • Read, interpret, and write specifications and technical documents.
  • Prepare technical and design requirements in support of project goals.
  • Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments.
  • Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.
  • Understand and/or leads Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings.
  • Up to 10% business travel. 
  • Ability to obtain US Secret Security Clearance. 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and minimum of 9 years of prior related engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related engineering experience. 
  • 2+ years IPT Lead experience. 
  • 5+ years experience using Microsoft Office Suite as a daily tool. 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Four (4) or more years of experience with solid propellant propulsion projects is highly desired.
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical professionals at all levels.
  • Ability to establish and maintain priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, in a collaborative, dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • CAM experience desired.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong ethical judgment.
