Job Description:

 

Our headquarters in Huntsville, AL (the high tech sector of aerospace and defense) is growing! Aerojet has two Advanced Manufacturing Facilities for inert components in Huntsville, AL and an energetics manufacturing center of expertise in Camden, AR.  We are expanding all facilities to accommodate an increase in rocket motor production. Aerojet uses advanced design and manufacturing techniques to manufacture components and structures for solid rocket motors and aerospace structures.

 

This position will support all programs in production for solid rocket motors. You will be joining the Critical Process Task Force which has been established to address many issues: urgent production needs, work stop, failures, and process improvements. The selected individual will be able to understand/review/update Standard Operating Procedures, drawings, requirements, testing methods, and data acquisition methods. The candidate must be self-motivated to solve problems; working either as an individual contributor or as a member of a team. The individual will accurately report problems, solutions, and results in concise written and oral communications.

 

This position will be a dynamic position – moving from various programs to assess production, production bottlenecks, failures, non-conformances, and technology to increase yield and production throughput. The individual that will fill this role will tackle new issues, ideas, and concepts in order to keep production lines moving with minimal impact.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Evaluate and implement tractable solutions to technical problems by designing new tooling or updating current tooling
  • Utilizes 3d modeling software (PTC-Creo, SolidWorks, NX, etc).  Creo is preferred, but other software experience will satisfy.
  • Experience with 3d printing (multiple types preferred) and working with vendors to manufacture components
  • Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, standard operating procedures, quality requirements (both customer and company), and applicable safety requirements
  • Prepares comprehensive analyses, procedures, reports, and presentations for customer reviews (both internal and external)
  • Travel: 25% travel may be required to our energetics manufacturing site in Camden, AR depending upon issues found during manufacturing and required site visits to help resolve work stoppage or failure investigations
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Degree in material science, metallurgy, or related science and technical experience in processing metal structures
  • Experience with statistical analysis and data acquisition is a plus
