Job Description:

Aerojet Rocketdyne Business Intelligence team is seeking a data architect and engineer that will be responsible for supporting the design and structure of our Segment’s primary data warehouse.  This individual will identify our internal and external data sources, collaborate with internal teams to determine data storage needs, and use this information to create and maintain data architecture ongoing.  This role will be responsible for data warehouse governance practices including data management, data quality, data security, and provisioning access. They will identify and develop sound data architectures by working with users and stakeholders to understand data visualization and reporting requirements. This role requires the ability to lead a team of programmers, data scientists, and business system experts with strong problem-solving skills, business acumen, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (including executives) to drive data-driven decision-making.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the development, design, and maintenance of Data Warehouses and transformational tools to enable actionable business insights through dashboards and reports.
  • Lead the development and documentation of consistent methodologies and governance for extracting, transforming, and analyzing data from various sources such as Snowflake and Palantir, ensuring effective visualization and reporting.
  • Design, build, and manage data pipelines, including data transformation mapping, data flow diagrams, and metadata collection, to ensure data accessibility, accuracy, and security. Must have strong SQL background
  • Document and maintain data models (Conceptual, Logical, and Physical) and metadata management solutions to facilitate efficient and effective use of data.
  • Collaborate with IT and business units to develop, manage, and integrate business intelligence reporting, analytics, and data science outputs into business processes and workflows.
  • Proactively analyze existing data structures and reporting to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements, ensuring compliance with architectural standards.
  • Lead planning sessions with customers to improve business processes, prioritize investments in data and infrastructure, and translate data strategies into data integration frameworks and reporting.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with IT and Data Analytics teams to ensure resource optimization, synchronization of initiatives, and prevent duplication of work across the enterprise, while maintaining comprehensive database documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant data analytics experience Or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related data analytics experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related data analytics experience

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • 4+ years of experience working with or managing Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, SQL, Power BI and/or Tableau
  • 3+ years of experience with data extract, transform and load (ETL & ELT patterns), data storage, data models, etc. using Azure Data Factory, SQL, DAX, and/or Python
  • 2+ years of experience with Power BI or similar data visualization software
  • Ability to handle complex problems and take initiative to research issues, engage in self-learning, problem solve, and implement solutions
  • Proven SQL skills for querying and optimizing datasets
  • Able to adapt to ever changing tech stacks and willingness to be flexible to alternate solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, commitment to quality, customer focus, adaptability, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to translate data-related requirements into innovative user solutions, drawing on prior education and experience, standard procedures, and basic analysis
  • B.A., B.S., or equivalent in a quantitative subject (computer science, engineering, mathematics, sciences, information systems, statistics, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy with minimal oversight
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to influence outcomes in an agile environment
  • Experience in warehousing and analytics in Aerospace & Defense, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain industries

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado State, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont and New York State is $112,500-$209,500. For California, Seattle, Washington D.C., Maryland Greater Washington D.C. area, the city of Denver, Washington State and New York City, the salary range for this role is $129,500-$240,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
