Job Description:

Missile Solutions segment is seeking a skilled Artificial Intelligence Engineer with a strong background in emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to join our team. This role requires the ability to define, lead, and integrate AI strategies in large organizations. The selected candidate will report to the Chief Engineering Director, Advanced Missile Propulsion Technology (AMPT) and be based at a Missile Solutions segment site.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the technical development of an AI-centric solution from conception, design, test & validation, to scaled deployment (to a customer or at least to a segment-scale internal deployment).
  • Maintain a prioritized roadmap of AI initiatives that ties to business value (growth and efficiency)
  • Perform gap analysis to assess infrastructure, data and resource readiness.
  • Develop, track and improve KPI metrics related to cost, productivity and time-to-delivery.
  • Navigate between the ecosystems of open models and enterprise platforms as required.
  • Define and validate the value of AI capabilities and use cases to external (or internal) customers.
  • Clear understanding and communication of the ROI of AI investments while simultaneously off-ramping unbounded efforts of questionable business value. 
  • Responsible for understanding strategic objectives, setting expectations, and leading teams to achieve desired outcomes.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with the development of AI solutions beyond a single business or domain (ex. familiar with a spectrum of solutions and models across computer vision, task optimization, data analytics, natural language models, etc.)
  • Experience with the full life cycle of AI development, associated software stacks, and infrastructure approaches necessary to achieve the solution vision.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in aerospace and defense.
  • Experience operationalizing AI from cloud to edge and navigating deployment through the ATO process.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $132,000 - $245,000. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont is $115,000 - $213,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
