Job Description:
The Surveillance and Automation Solutions (S&AS) business area within L3Harris Technologies requires a talented Systems Engineer with expertise in aerospace and telecommunications software system design and specification to support the development of cutting-edge air traffic surveillance systems. The ideal candidate will engage in comprehensive systems engineering activities, including system design, specification creation, and performance analysis, to contribute to both new and ongoing air traffic surveillance projects.
Essential Functions:
- Perform systems analysis and design activities for large air traffic surveillance systems.
- Develop surveillance systems, subsystem requirements, and interface specifications.
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
- Define and manage system requirements in requirements management tools and MBSE.
- Conduct safety analysis, risk analysis, and system performance analysis
- Coordination and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Providing support to ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, there is a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Requires a minimum of 6 years of system life-cycle development experience with aerospace and telecommunication systems including system design, development, integration, analysis, and verification.
- Proof of US citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain an FAA Position of Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Direct experience with FAA surveillance systems.
- Hands-on experience with requirements management tools and MBSE modeling.
- Programming experience with C/C++, Python, MATLAB, etc.
- Experience with development of solutions into mixed on-premises and Cloud environments
- RTCA DO-278 compliance experience.
- Experience with micro services architecture and cloud architecture.
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Experience with safety analysis, risk analysis, and system performance analysis.
- Experience in air surveillance systems, including radar, sensors, and data fusion technologies.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Washington DC is $104,500 - $193,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
