- Design, support, and integration of Electrical Power and Propulsion Systems
- Perform / support studies and analyses relevant to Electrical Power and Propulsion systems (e.g. harmonic analyses and electrical system transient analyses).
- Perform trade studies relating to Electrical Power and Propulsion Systems
- Assist in design activities (integration and operation) relating to motors, variable frequency drives, generators, transformers, switchboards, and power management systems
- Assist in preparation of RFI and RFP responses relating to Integrated Power and Propulsion Systems
- Review and comment on supplier technical data, drawings, and technical procedures.
- Write, review, and provide inputs to equipment test and trials documentation.
- Support inspection and test of Electrical Power and Propulsion System installation including:
- Equipment installation
- Equipment light-off
- Trials and acceptance trials support
- Support the effort as necessary in the review and refinement of L3Harris developed propulsion equipment performance.
- Support Propulsion system design reviews
- Function as the L3Harris point of contact for technical issues related to propulsion systems and ship integration.
Qualifications:
- Must be willing to work on site in WI daily
- BS degree in Engineering and or significant project and system architecture experience in relevant areas to L3Harris current and future Naval business strategy.
- Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance.
- 6+ years prior satisfactory experience as a power/propulsion engineer working with shipyards and interfacing with engineers and management at all levels. Navy or related military experience is a strong desire.
- Strong background in power systems, electrical circuits and control systems.
- Supervisory experience and the ability to mentor, train, and motivate people to excel individually and as a team in a fast paced, context switching work environment is preferable.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Expert knowledge of ships propulsion systems and Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) design components of naval ship systems.
- Electrical and mechanical integration experience for military environments requiring environmental qualifications.
- Working knowledge of MIL-SPECS, DOD regulations and practices, and Classification society rules and regulations. Familiarity with spreadsheet programs and their use.
- Well versed in Microsoft project management tools, CAD, VISIO, and Microsoft office applications.
