The L3Harris Surveillance and Automation Solutions Business Area has an opening for a Specialist Lab Manager for air traffic surveillance organization. The L3Harris Surveillance and Automation Solutions Business Area is a recognized, vibrant, and growing organization providing unsurpassed engineering, management, operations, implementation, and information solutions for worldwide Air Traffic Control. We are in the forefront of the FAA's NextGen Airspace Modernization Programs, international Air Traffic Control Systems initiatives, and next generation timing and location solutions.

The successful candidate will be involved in all phases of the system life cycle for Air Traffic Management systems. This individual will be a key participant in requirements analysis and system design, system integration and test, and operational support. These systems incorporate geographically dispersed sensors and radios, external data feeds, multiple applications running on centralized servers, monitoring subsystems, data conversion equipment, and data delivery subsystems located at customers’ facilities.

 

 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lab Manager to join our Surveillance and Broadcast Service System (SBSS) Program. This position requires onsite presence. The Lab Manager will oversee the management of multiple labs and various hardware equipment while also contributing to engineering efforts within the organization.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Manage and maintain operations of two labs, ensuring that all equipment is properly functioning, calibrated and safety protocols are adhered to.
  • Oversee the inventory, setup, maintenance, and calibration of lab equipment including but not limited to networking hardware, testing tools, and computer systems.
  • Maintain, and troubleshoot RF systems, electronic systems, and communication equipment
  • Work closely with the engineering team to support hardware, software, and network testing efforts.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain lab workflows and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with procurement for ordering necessary lab supplies and equipment.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting lab equipment and testing setups.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards in lab practices.
  • Assist in the development and execution of test plans for various hardware and network components.
  • Document and report lab activities, test results, and any incidents.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on lab procedures and best practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 32 pounds.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in a similar role within the defense or aerospace industry.
  • Certifications related to networking and hardware management.
  • Proficiency with lab management software tools.
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in managing lab environments and hardware equipment.
  • Proficiency in setting up and maintaining networking equipment.
  • Experience with hardware and network testing methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and safety protocols for lab environments.
