Job Description:

Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, overhauling, calibrating, and repair of technically complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic sonar components using a variety of test equipment and custom test sets.  The engineer will work closely with Engineering Manager and will act as Subject Matter Expert for various dipping sonar system programs.  The engineer will travel to L3Harris location and customer sites for integration/testing and/or resolution of issues.  Following diagnostics, the engineer will provide work instructions to engineers and technicians for repair of various sensors, electro-mechanical systems, and circuit card assemblies (CCAs). Maintenance and design of test sets is required as needed.

Essential Functions:

• Lead an Integrated Product Team in the planning, integration, execution, and reporting of component-, CCA-, subassembly-, assembly-, and system-level test activities across the program lifecycle.
• Establish and drive the overall verification and validation approach by developing test strategies, plans, procedures, traceability products, test cases, execution flows, and final test documentation consistent with program and customer requirements.
• Coordinate cross-functional technical execution among hardware, firmware, software, systems, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure integrated test readiness, issue resolution, and on-schedule program performance.
• Provide technical oversight of system configurations, software and firmware loads, and test environment readiness to ensure accurate, repeatable, and controlled test execution.
• Lead manual and automated test execution efforts, ensuring test results, defects, anomalies, and performance observations are documented, communicated, and dispositioned in a timely manner.
• Direct root cause and corrective action efforts for hardware, firmware, software, and system integration issues, driving problems to closure while minimizing program impact.
• Guide integration efforts in development, qualification, production, and sustainment environments, ensuring technical alignment and effective transition between lifecycle phases.
• Support qualification and compliance planning and execution for EMI/EMC, thermal, vibration, and related environmental testing, including readiness reviews, issue management, and results assessment.
• Champion automation and process improvement initiatives that improve test efficiency, coverage, repeatability, throughput, and defect detection capability.
• Interface with Operations and Manufacturing to resolve test-related production issues, analyze trends, and implement sustainable corrective actions that improve product quality and delivery performance.
• Present program execution status, technical risks, mitigation plans, and recommendations to leadership, stakeholders, and customers with clarity and credibility.
• Manage team priorities and execution against cost, schedule, and technical baselines, including alignment to EVMS and broader program performance expectations where applicable.
• Foster collaboration, accountability, and disciplined execution across the IPT to meet key milestones, reduce risk, and achieve program objectives.
• Promote standardization, lessons learned, and organizational knowledge sharing to strengthen Integration & Test capability across programs.
• Support travel to customer and operational sites, as required, to lead technical execution, integration events, troubleshooting, and program coordination activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
• At least 4 years of experience with hardware development experience across the full development lifecycle, with a solid understanding of the interdependencies between hardware, firmware, software, and systems disciplines.
• 2+ years of experience managing cost and schedule performance on a development program (EVMS or equivalent, such as CAM experience).
• At least 2 years of experience leading an Integrated Product Team or similar cross functional technical team.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Experience supporting integration and test activities for dipping sonar systems preferred.
• Knowledge of systems engineering concepts, including requirements analysis, verification, validation, and traceability.
• Familiarity with requirement management system, JIRA, Confluence, and MS Project.
• Proficiency with Vizio.
• Experience using test equipment such as collimators, DC power supplies, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and fiber optic scope meters.
• Knowledge of test methods and data analysis.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $127,500 MIN - $236,500 MAX. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
