Are you ready to advance your career in systems engineering? We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Specialist, Systems Engineering to join our team on the Mature Support Contract (MSC), supporting the sustainment of L3Harris Tactical Radio Products based at Hamilton.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in driving engineering change activities — from product modifications and enhancements to technical investigations, obsolescence management, and the responsible disposal of L3Harris and third-party products. You’ll also help ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory frameworks, contractual obligations, and customer requirements.

 

What the role will involve

  • Coordinate with all stakeholders — including suppliers and third-party engineering service providers — to ensure clear understanding of responsibilities, processes, and timeframes.
  • Lead engineering change activities for product modifications and enhancements, managing the full lifecycle from requirements definition to design, verification, and reporting.
  • Review and assess Technical Information Reviews (TIRs) that may impact the fit, form, or function of Products Being Supported (PBS) items, and provide expert advice or recommendations to the MSC Program Office as needed.
  • Conduct technical investigations into radio product issues, preparing detailed written analyses, recommendations, and resolutions.
  • Monitor and maintain PBS items throughout their lifecycle, identifying and addressing product or supportability issues, tracking change proposals, and managing product roadmaps.
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) from the MSC Program Office promptly, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Contribute to Contract Status Reports by providing updates on performance, planned activities, issues, and opportunities related to the MSC.
  • Manage and update engineering-related plans, procedures, and documents, including Contract Data Requirement List (CDRL) deliverables.
  • Support the organization, coordination, and execution of engineering and technical operations across the MSC project.

 

What you’ll bring

The role requires the following experience and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering recognized by Engineers Australia Examples include: Avionics, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems, Software
  • Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in the Defence industry is a preference, though operating within a complex, large international business will also be considered
  • Experience in supporting small and large scale engineering projects
  • A background in sustainment will be highly regarded.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance (AGSVA at the NV1 level.
  • Knowledge of HF, VHF, UHF and Narrowband SATCOM Systems
  • Experience with mobile networking within a tactical environment and tactical data messaging
  • Knowledge of secure voice and data systems including an understanding of cryptographic equipment
  • Experience with verification, especially test procedure development.
