Job Description:
L3Harris Communications (Australia) Global Field Services Australia Department employed Senior Specialist Applications Engineer will work with the Asia Pacific (APAC) team to support existing international business units. This team is responsible for supporting system design, installation, integration, maintenance and training for International and Domestic Programs. .
The Senior Specialist Applications Engineer provides services for international customer engagement for operation support, demonstrations, trials and trade shows. The responsibilities include planning, preparation, configuration and operation of tactical radio products, software applications and IP Networked Systems.
Essential Functions:
- Provide field and remote technical support of RF Communications tactical radio equipment in the HF, VHF, UHF and SHF RF spectrum.
- Provide guidance, planning and training to customers in product operation, maintenance procedures and techniques.
- Provide effective solutions, integration and operational quality of technical systems and equipment.
- Provide pre-sales or post-sale technical support for company products and systems.
- Construct, present and interpret technical design for business development and customers.
- Plan and design communication systems to support customer requirements.
- Plan, design, coordinate and conduct of trials, demonstrations and validation activities.
- Conduct equipment and system installations for fixed sites, towers, maritime and land platforms.
- Assess and analyze company products and competing equipment to meet customer needs.
- Support with sales proposals through the provision of technical drawings, equipment specifications and technical text.
- Analyze and troubleshoot equipment failures to determine cause and recommendations and/or performance corrective action.
Qualifications:
- Current Commonwealth security clearance
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or equivalent.
- Military Communications experience essential.
- Field engineering experience with tactical radio equipment including training, operation, fault finding and basic maintenance of military communications equipment.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Previous exposure to high tempo logistics environment (preferably Australian Defence Force).
- Ability to operate independently with minimal direction.
- Proven written and oral communication skills to provide reports and briefings to the customer.
Conditions:
- Requirement to conduct extensive travel in support of Australian domestic and international tasks.
- Requirement to work reasonable overtime as required to support customer and business requirements.
- Weekend or after-hours travel is required to meet customer requirements.
- Field Service Premiums provided for tasks excess of 31 days.
