Job Description:

 

The Sr Specialist, Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communications platforms.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
  • Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
  • Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
  • Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
  • Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
  • Perform requirement traceability.
  • Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
  • Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
  • Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs.
  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) security clearance.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems using logical engineering thought processes.
  • Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint. 
  • Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
  • Be able to write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
  • Understand requirement traceability.
  • Be able to prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
  • Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose
  • Knowledge of the systems engineering trade study process
  • Experience writing subsystem specifications based on system level requirements
  • Experience conducting verification testing
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills
  • Experience developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%. (Domestic/International)
  • Experience working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers
  • Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft
  • Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of prior Systems Engineering experience.
  • OR Graduate Degree with two (2) years of prior Systems Engineering experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior Systems Engineering experience.
  • Candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret w/SCI.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification.
  • CI Poly.
  • Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.
  • Security+ Professional Certification.
