Job Description:

The Sr. Specialist, Systems engineer (SE) will be responsible for performing data analysis in tactical data link acquisition and processing systems. The SE will be accountable for technical and troubleshooting to investigate and solve tactical communication system performance issues including operational environment impacts. SE's will complete all required administrative actions for the maintenance of SCIF within the bounds of ICD 705. The selected candidate will be recognized as an internal expert and thought leader in area of expertise with broad experience across multiple job areas. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for generation and review of technical papers, calculations, and briefings. 
  • Preparing and presenting technical briefs to internal management teams.
  • Works under consultative direction against annual goals to manage large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization.
  • Cognizant of security space regulations and SCIF operations.
  • Manages complex projects or processes with general oversight.
  • Communicates within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Responsible for establishing educational and training goals for area of expertise and ensuring those goals are achieved.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, building, and analyzing, Data Link (e.g. Link16, CMF, etc.) messages or other communication systems in single.
  • Able to read, interpret, create, and maintain spreadsheets, charts, reports, investigation and test plans, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Mil-Standards 6018, 6016 and 6020.
  • Writing systems and software requirements using an application such as DOORS.
  • Building test cases to assess software and system operation against requirements, writing defect reports, and assessing corrections.
  • Familiar with WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) technology, MOUS satellite communications system technology, tactical data links, PRC-117 and JTT-SR radio.
  • Ability to work in an environment where priorities can change without advance notice.
  • Physical requirements: Some lifting in a Systems Integration Lab (SIL) environment.
  • Excellent communication will be required both verbally and written.
  • Will work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, et al) is required to generate work products.
  • Able to obtain Security+ Certification.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with six (6) years of RF, Systems (Test, integration/requirements writing), tactical data link, and technical writing experience.
  • Graduate degree with four (4) years of RF, Systems (Test, integration/requirements writing), tactical data link, and technical writing experience.
  • In Lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of RF, Systems (Test, integration/requirements writing), tactical data link, and technical writing experience.
  • Must have an active Secret Clearance at the time of hire with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Top Secret (TS/SCI) Security Clearance.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active Top Secret with SCI.
  • Security+ Certification.
