Job Description:
The Sr Specialist, Systems Engineer position is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communications platforms.
Essential Functions:
- Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
- Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
- Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
- Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
- Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
- Perform requirement traceability.
- Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
- Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
- Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs.
- Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
- Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.
- Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware.
- RF distribution systems including RF down-converting, up-converting, transceivers, non-blocking switching, and electrically matched distribution architectures.
- Troubleshooting and multi-level testing for RF applications.
- Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose.
- Writing subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
- Conducting verification testing.
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills.
- Working with subcontractors and US Government customers.
- Developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans.
- Willingness to travel (25%).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with six (6) years of experience with physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
- Master’s Degree with four (4) years of experience with physical architecture incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of experience with physical architecture incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
- Must have an active Secret at the time of hire with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI DoD Security Clearance.
- Must be a US Citizen.
