Job Description:
The Sr. Scientist, Systems Engineer will support the Avionics Systems Engineering Team as a true subject matter expert, guiding strategic focus and development. Recognized as an external and internal expert and thought leader with deep and substantive technical expertise as well as advanced business knowledge and leadership capabilities. Communicates with contacts inside and outside of the organization on matters of strategic importance to influence executive leadership on new concepts, practices, and approaches. Establishes overall direction for new processes, systems, and solutions. Recommends and implements strategies and develops operational plans/goals with direct impact to the achievement against functional strategies.
Essential Functions:
- Work is guided by long-term objectives for the organization – typically two-to-three-year goals.
- Developing resource plans and programs for area of responsibility to ensure strategic objectives are achieved.
- Establishing the direction for new processes, systems, solutions, and products using significant conceptualization, reason, and interpretation. Solutions are innovative and often define the best practice for the future.
- Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are regularly complex, requiring broad-based consideration of variables that impact multiple areas of the organization.
- Extensively analyzes implications of both near and long-term implications of solutions.
- Owns and develops tactical and operational plans and goals for a business area or function.
- Recommends operational strategies that have a direct impact on mid- to long-term function or business area achievements.
- Requires a high degree of responsibility for resources, and ability to influence business decisions made by leadership.
- Recommends and implements new products, processes, policies, standards or operating plans in support of job function strategy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to develop and deliver complex topics.
- Proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Project and Visio.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work with internal and external customers.
- Working in and with Program Management Office and customer to develop strategic, long-term plans for Avionics mission systems capabilities.
- Programming languages C, C++, C#, Java, SQL.
- Aircraft systems simulation.
- DOORS/Jira experience.
- MATLAB experience.
- FAA Compliance and Certification.
- Experience with protocols such as ARINC 429, ARINC 702, and MIL-STD-1552B.
- Must possess an operational knowledge of the Rivet Glass Flight Deck.
- Other duties assigned by Leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 15 years of experience with EFIS, Autopilot, and Flight Guidance systems/technology and simulation software and integration experience.
- Graduate Degree with 13 years of experience with EFIS, Autopilot, and Flight Guidance systems/technology and simulation software and integration experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 19 years of experience with EFIS, Autopilot, and Flight Guidance systems/technology and simulation software and integration experience.
- Must have an active Secret at the time of hire with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI.
- Must be a US Citizen.
