Job Description:

The Sr. Associate, Technical Writer will be responsible for reviewing flight and maintenance manuals for airborne and ground-based mission systems. This role involves a thorough examination of operational procedures, such as the theory of operations, troubleshooting, fault isolation, testing, and repair processes. Additionally, the individual will assess training courseware development materials to ensure accuracy and clarity.

Essential Functions:

  • Review of maintenance manuals covering multiple aircraft and ground systems.
    • To Include;
      • Flight deck communication systems.
      • Radar and navigation systems.
      • Flight display systems.
      • Electronic flight instruments.
      • Flight management systems.
      • Terrain awareness and warning systems.
      • Mission systems.
      • Maintenance training systems.
      • Ground processing systems.
  • Reviewing of block diagrams, illustrations, text, and theory of operation, as well as troubleshooting, test, and repair procedures.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, wire lists, schematics, hardware specifications, software requirements specifications, software interface control documents, test procedures.
  • Conduct interviews with engineering personnel to ensure the technical documentation is precise, comprehensive, and meets professional/MIL standards.
  • Works under general supervision and may be responsible for entire programs.
  • Responsible for making minor changes in processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of approaches and routines being utilized.
  • Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate orally and in written form.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with two (2) years of technical writing, training, or editing processes and procedures experience.
  • Graduate degree with zero-two (0-2) years of technical writing, training, or editing processes and procedures experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of six (6) years of techanical writing, training, or editing processes and procedures experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Addtional Skills:

  • Familiarity with Mil-Std 38784. 
  • Familiar knowledge of FrameMaker, S1000D, XML, Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator software applications.
