Job Description: L3Harris is seeking an experienced General Ledger Accountant in the L3Harris Integrated Mission Systems Segment Accounting organization.  This organization supports multiple business units across the United States by providing general ledger and  financial reporting services. Partnership with the business units and on time completion are core cultural characteristics of the organization.  The General Ledger Accountant will participate with the team in recording and reconciling accounting transactions for these businesses. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Proficient accounting knowledge
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate in person and remotely, across multiple locations and time zones
  • Works both autonomously and with a team to complete all tasks with general supervision
  • Collaborates with the business to deliver efficient, accurate and compliant accounting
  • Researches issues and proposes corrective actions or transactions
  • Reviews transactions to ensure appropriate accounting treatment
  • Completes month end closing activities to ensure reporting deadlines are met
  • Prepares routine journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations
  • Develops and/or documents processes as required
  • Supports internal and external audit requests
  • Performs special assignments and ad hoc analyses as needed
  • Ability to work extended hours as required which may include weeknights, weekends, or holidays

 

Qualifications:  

  • Requires practical knowledge of job area. Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Proficient with Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience in public accounting/auditing is a strongly preferred
  • CPA Certification or qualification to sit for the CPA exam is preferred
  • Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated excellence in analytical and research skills while leveraging technology such as Tableau, Power BI or Alteryx
  • Objective thinker, problem solver with ability to execute to completion
  • Flexible planner in terms of daily activities with ability to adeptly react to changing requirements and priorities
  • Experience in continuous improvement and process development
  • Exceptional organizational skills enabling monitoring of key due dates and activities
  • Ability to develop broad, cooperative relationships with numerous groups and individuals
