Job Description:
The Specialist, Systems Engineer (SE) performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and/or subsystems. The Specialist SE is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.
Essential Functions:
- Manage and sustain ground-to-air based datalink system and/or subsystems.
- Configure and prepare LRUs and subsystem components for verification/validation and operational installations.
- Testing of RF components and/or subcomponents.
- System and subsystem troubleshooting to a subcomponent level.
- Identify hardware, software, and firmware anomalies and recommend repair/corrective actions.
- Support software/hardware integration and validation activities.
- Installation, maintenance, configuration, and testing of special mission systems in a SIL environment including crypto, radio, and various collection systems.
- Administrate network equipment and domains from airborne to ground equipment.
- Use COTS software to monitor system functions such as PuTTY, WinSCP, and other network software as required.
- Understanding of Linux domains and command hierarchy to assist with software implementations.
- Utilize test equipment such as Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, Oscilloscopes, and other datalink test equipment.
- Brief customers and end-users on technical data and repair activities during weekly meetings.
- Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
- Troubleshooting and multi-level testing for RF applications.
- Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose.
- Experience conducting verification testing.
- Proficient in using JIRA for task management, issue tracking, and generating project progress reports.
- Working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
- Developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans.
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems environment.
- Graduate Degree with two (2) years of hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems environment.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems environment.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience with Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience with configuration and integration of aircraft RF and satellite communications systems, or cryptographic equipment.
- Must have an active Top Secret with SCI at the time of hire.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
