Job Description: 

The Specialist, Systems Engineer (SE) performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and or subsystems. The Specialist SE is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms. 

Essential Functions:

  • Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
  • Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
  • Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
  • Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
  • Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
  • Perform requirement traceability.
  • Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
  • Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
  • Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs.
  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) security clearance.
  • Identify and solve problems using logical engineering thought processes.
  • Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint. 
  • Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
  • Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
  • Understand requirement traceability.
  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
  • Troubleshooting aircraft systems including diagnosis of malfunctions.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% (Domestic)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of prior technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems, and/or subsystems experience.
  • Graduate Degree with two (2) years of prior technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems, and/or subsystems experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of prior technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems, and/or subsystems experience.
  • Must have an active Secret DoD Clearance at the time of hire with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI and CI Poly.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • CI Poly.
  • Experience working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
  • Engineering Test efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft.
