Job Description:
The Specialist, Systems Engineer (SE) performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and or subsystems. The Specialist SE is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.
Essential Functions:
- Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
- Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
- Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
- Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
- Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
- Perform requirement traceability.
- Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
- Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
- Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs.
- Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) security clearance.
- Identify and solve problems using logical engineering thought processes.
- Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
- Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
- Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
- Understand requirement traceability.
- Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
- Troubleshooting aircraft systems including diagnosis of malfunctions.
- Willing and able to travel up to 10% (Domestic)
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of prior technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems, and/or subsystems experience.
- Graduate Degree with two (2) years of prior technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems, and/or subsystems experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of prior technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems, and/or subsystems experience.
- Must have an active Secret DoD Clearance at the time of hire with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI and CI Poly.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- CI Poly.
- Experience working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
- Engineering Test efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft.
