Job Description:

The Specialist, Systems Engineer (SE) performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and/or subsystems. The Specialist SE is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
  • Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
  • Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
  • Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
  • Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
  • Perform requirement traceability.
  • Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
  • Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
  • Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs.
  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
  • Model-based Systems Engineering and Simulation experience.
  • Troubleshooting and multi-level testing for RF applications.
  • Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose.
  • Knowledge of the systems engineering trade study process.
  • Working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
  • Developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans.
  • Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret with SCI Clearance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of combined experience with Aircraft communication system integration, configuration and integration of RF and satellite communications systems, testing, integrating, and verifying software, hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems, or cryptographic equipment.
  • Graduate Degree with two (2) years of combined experience with Aircraft communication system integration, configuration and integration of RF and satellite communications systems, testing, integrating, and verifying software, hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems, or cryptographic equipment.
  • OR in lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of combined experience with Aircraft communication system integration, configuration and integration of RF and satellite communications systems, testing, integrating, and verifying software, hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems, or cryptographic equipment.
  • Must successfully obtain a Security + professional certification within the six months.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Working knowledge of LAN and VOIP protocols to include IP routing.
  • An active DoD Security Clearance at the Top Secret/SCI Level.
