Job Description:
The Specialist, Systems Engineer (SE) performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and/or subsystems. The Specialist SE is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.
Essential Functions:
- Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
- Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
- Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
- Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
- Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
- Perform requirement traceability.
- Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
- Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
- Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs.
- Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
- Model-based Systems Engineering and Simulation experience.
- Troubleshooting and multi-level testing for RF applications.
- Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose.
- Knowledge of the systems engineering trade study process.
- Working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
- Developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans.
- Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft.
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret with SCI Clearance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of combined experience with Aircraft communication system integration, configuration and integration of RF and satellite communications systems, testing, integrating, and verifying software, hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems, or cryptographic equipment.
- Graduate Degree with two (2) years of combined experience with Aircraft communication system integration, configuration and integration of RF and satellite communications systems, testing, integrating, and verifying software, hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems, or cryptographic equipment.
- OR in lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of combined experience with Aircraft communication system integration, configuration and integration of RF and satellite communications systems, testing, integrating, and verifying software, hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems, or cryptographic equipment.
- Must successfully obtain a Security + professional certification within the six months.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Working knowledge of LAN and VOIP protocols to include IP routing.
- An active DoD Security Clearance at the Top Secret/SCI Level.
