Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Specialist, Information Systems Security Engineer who will apply current systems security engineering methods, practices and technologies to the architecture, design, development, evaluation and integration of systems and networks to maintain system security. Works closely with Government customers to ensure that the security protection needs, concerns and requirements are defined and implemented with appropriate fidelity and rigor, early and in a sustainable manner throughout the life cycle of system that will allow for the security authorization of the system of interest. Works with systems developers or commercial product vendors in the design and evaluation of state-of-the-art secure systems, networks, and database products. Uses methods such as encryption technology, vulnerability analysis and security management. Responsible for integration of multiple methods into a cohesive system security perimeter and environment and the policies and procedures necessary to monitor and maintain such an environment. Will prepare Certification and Accreditation documentation, using multiple standards, to achieve security authorization of supported systems. Represents program security needs, concerns and requirements at customer meetings.
Essential Functions:
· Design, implement, and maintain robust information security systems and protocols.
· Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability testing, and risk analysis.
· Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards.
· Monitor and respond to security incidents and breaches, providing expert analysis and resolution.
· Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure security measures are integrated into all systems and processes.
· Stay updated with the latest security trends, threats, and technology solutions.
· Provide mentorship and guidance to junior security engineers and IT staff.
· Prepare and present detailed reports on security status, incidents, and improvements to senior management.
· Part of a diversely skilled engineering team in the design, implementation, and testing of complex interoperable systems
· Troubleshoot unique and highly customized systems in a secure environment
· Translate customer system requirements into DOORS/Jira
· Must work on the facility with some limited flexibility
· Business travel equates to approx 10% of man-year
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Requires a DOD TS/SCI Security Clearance to be consider
Preferred Additional Skills:
· Possesses one of the following certifications at time of hire, or obtain one within 6 months of hire: Associate of CISSP, CISSP, CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP (DoD 8140/8570 qualified certifications)
· Strong technical writing skills.
· Familiar with communications systems, computer networking concepts, protocols (including TCP/IP), and security methodologies
· Familiar with security engineering principles and processes
· Aware of basic security engineering design patterns, processes, and technologies
· Able to work in both group and individual settings under the direction, oversight, and mentoring of senior engineers
· Asks questions and seeks clarification on unfamiliar and/or unclear concepts, designs, and implementation details
· Strong problem-solving, creative thinking, and multi-tasking skills
· Familiar with RF communications
· Experience with matrixed development teams (hardware, software, systems engineers) and embedded systems engineering
· JCIDS, DJSIG, NIACAP, FIPS 140-2 or 140-3, NSA certification
· High assurance crypto systems
· Gov’t advisory/assistance as SETA/A&AS contractor in cybersecurity-related role
· Agile development processes
· Other security or technical certifications: CISA, CISM, CEH, CPT, MCSE, CCNA, Red Hat, Network+, SANS GIAC, Security+, CCNP Security, etc.
· Experience with TEMPEST, Anti-Tamper, or other system security specialties
