Job Description:

The Cyber Security Specialist supports the security authorization (A&A/ATO) process, applies extensive technical expertise to manage RMF CMMC compliance, vulnerability scanning, and risk assessment. Serve as a point of contact for security protocols and directly assist managing security operations for complex networks and systems.


Essential Functions:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to prepare and manage comprehensive security accreditation documentation.
  • Implement security control assessments, Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) tracking, and continuous monitoring.
  • Perform STIG/SRG compliance reviews, analyze vulnerability scans (Nessus, SCAP, ACAS), and review audit records (Splunk, Elasticsearch) to identify and remediate security findings.
  • Manage security incidents, conducting investigations and coordinating responses to network events.
  • Coordinate changes to hardware/software with the CUI Manager and Authorizing Official (AO), assessing security impacts.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior cyber security experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior cyber security experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior cyber security experience.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in cybersecurity assessment of firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco, host based), LAN/WAN (Layer 2 and Layer 3), and operating system (Linux, Windows, Cisco IOS, HPE IOS) security.


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • System Hardening: Practical experience applying hardening techniques to diverse environments, including Windows, Linux, Cisco, HPE/Aruba in small to medium sized network enclaves.
  • Strong knowledge of NIST 800-171 guidelines, RMF, and tools such as eMASS, HBSS, or ACAS.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with government stakeholder.
