Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and delivery of advanced software solutions for mission-critical defense systems. The ideal candidate will have experience leading technical efforts across the full software development lifecycle, collaborating directly with customers, and developing secure, scalable solutions in cross-functional engineering environments. This role requires a strong background in software architecture, systems integration, diagnostics, automation, and secure software development, along with the ability to work across multiple programming languages and platforms.
Essential Functions:
- Must be able to work occasional weekend or overtime hours, as required.
- Must have CompTia Security+ certification.
- Lead end-to-end software development efforts including architecture, design, implementation, testing, documentation, and delivery.
- Serve as a primary technical interface with customers, coordinating schedules, communicating progress, and aligning deliverables with evolving requirements.
- Design and develop scalable authentication and authorization solutions to enforce system access control policies.
- Lead small technical teams in the development of diagnostics and monitoring tools to improve system health visibility and accelerate root-cause analysis.
- Investigate customer requests, analyze requirements, and implement effective software solutions.
- Maintain and update interface definition documentation and other technical artifacts.
- Support software modernization efforts, including containerization and reduction of technical debt in legacy codebases.
- Create user manuals and technical documentation to support delivered capabilities.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Qualifications:
- Active US TS/SCI security clearance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field and minimum 6 years of prior relevant professional engineering experience in defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical environments.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ELINT receiver systems, signal analysis equipment and techniques.
- Demonstrated experience with ELINT databases such as EPL, CED, EWIR, MIDB, etc.
- Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience with:
- Linux
- Jira
- Confluence
- DOORS
- Demonstrated experience with unit testing frameworks and software verification practices.
- Demonstrated experience with technical documentation, interface definitions, and customer-facing engineering communication.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Familiarity with secure software practices and access control implementation.
- Experience supporting ELINT, airborne mission systems, communications systems, or similar defense platforms.
- Experience automating manual engineering or release processes.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver projects ahead of schedule.
- Hardware troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
- Big Safari Experience and/or a USAF RC-135 Combat Systems Officer (CSO)/Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO) is preferred.
- Electronic Warfare Officers with experience on other airborne platforms and experienced.
