Job Description:

The Training Instructor – Aircraft Electrical Systems is responsible for delivering high‑quality, hands‑on technical training to employees supporting aircraft production, modification, and maintenance operations. This role ensures that employees develop and maintain the skills necessary to meet quality, safety, and performance standards across the site.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Read, interpret, and apply information from engineering drawings, wiring schematics, work instructions, and aircraft technical manuals.
  • Develop, update, and maintain training materials—including course content, lesson plans, presentations, and job aids—to reflect current processes, quality standards, and trends identified through defect data.
  • Ensure all training programs, documents, and materials comply with company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Deliver specialized training based on supervisor referrals, identified skill gaps, cross‑training needs, and evolving operational requirements.
  • Assess trainee performance through observation, practical evaluations, and knowledge checks; provide targeted instruction to reinforce correct techniques and adherence to specifications.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Operations, and Engineering teams to identify training needs that support defect reduction initiatives and achievement of COPQ/DPTH goals.
  • Maintain accurate and complete training records, ensuring compliance with internal documentation standards and audit requirements.
  • Promote and enforce safety, regulatory compliance, and proper work practices during all training activities.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of training areas and labs, including maintaining equipment, managing tool control, ensuring cleanliness and organization, and monitoring training supply inventories.
  • Manage administrative tasks such as collecting course evaluations, completing trainee check‑ins, tracking project grades, posting results, reviewing defect reports for training insights, and participating in instructor review meetings.
  • Analyze training feedback, audit results, and performance data to identify actionable improvements and complete assigned follow‑up items.
  • Support new hires through scheduled follow‑up touchpoints to ensure learning retention and successful transition to production.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives by recommending updates to processes, training content, and instructional methods.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Manager, Lead, Technical Trainor or Instructor training and evaluting skills and/or skill gaps in order to tailor continuous training solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience as an aircraft electrical mechanic or closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated understanding of aircraft electrical systems, wiring practices, schematics, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical tasks into practical, effective training for employees at varying skill levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and specifications.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Prior experience in technical training or adult instructor.
  • Certifications related to aircraft electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated communication and instructional skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple training requests and adjust to changing priorities.
