Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Scientist, Systems Engineer that is a proven leader and Optical Technical Capabilities subject matter expert. The duties will include product development, system architecture, proposal writing, technical over-sight, stakeholder collaboration among business development, manufacturing, engineering, and program management, while setting priorities for IRAD development through product roadmaps.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain products roadmaps that:
- Set IRAD development priorities.
- Provide Business Development with the material needed to create new business opportunities.
- Coordinates the use of contract budgets to enhance capabilities.
- Can be used for responding to RFIs and RFQs.
- Provide technical oversight for execution of contracts to ensure program goals are achieved.
- Participate in proposal teams to align the system approaches for maximum re-use.
- Facilitate the transfer of products from IRAD to production.
- Assist IRAD team in defining scope for adding capabilities to current products as well as creating new products to address emerging needs.
- Collaborate with the different engineering disciplines to ensure that a broad perspective is used in decision-making.
- Work closely with the customer to comprehensively design and implement new system functionality.
- Intelligence, Surveillance, & Reconnaissance (ISR) Optical Technical Capabilities.
- Well versed in Bidding and Proposal Process.
- Lifecycle phases and activities for Program Planning, Guidance, and Execution.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. To include technical communication and professional publications.
- Familiar with DoD industry and business knowledge.
- Experience using standard Systems Engineering practices to architect, design, and document new systems.
- Analysis of customer requirements, including system and sub-system trade studies.
- Requirements flow-down to subsystems and components.
- Developing Interface Control Documents.
- Definition and generation of detailed hardware and software specifications for systems, subsystems, and key components.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements.
- Able to travel up to 25%.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of experience using standard systems engineering practices to architect, design, and document new systems.
- Graduate degree with 10 years of experience using standard systems engineering practices to architect, design, and document new systems.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of experience using standard systems engineering practices to architect, design, and document new systems.
- Must have an active Secret Clearance at the time of hire with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret with SCI clearance.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active TS/SCI Clearance.
