Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer, who has very broad experience across many technical disciplines within the Signals Intelligence domain. This role requires knowledge of Estimation, Detection and Probability Theory (specific details listed below). Will be required to lead one or more teams of System Engineers through the Systems Engineering development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system architecture design, hardware and software integration, and verification and validation activities related to COMINT and/or ELINT Airborne Systems. Support of both Internal Research and Development (IR&D) and customer awarded contracts is essential in this role.
Essential Functions:
- In-depth knowledge of SIGINT, specifically ELINT or COMINT, preferrable both
- Direction Finding and Geolocation.
- Knowledge of Signal Processing using FPGA Devices.
- Communicates within and outside of the organization to influence leadership to accept new practices, approaches, and concepts.
- Communicates with parties within and outside of the organization, which includes large customers and vendors.
- Works to influence others to accept new practices, concepts, and approaches.
- Requires ability to communicate and influence leadership regarding matters of substantial importance to the SIGINT Systems Department here at Majors Field in Greenville, Tx.
- Responsible for improving upon existing processes or establishing new processes and systems.
- Knowledge of Digital Filters including, FFTs, FIR and IIR filtering, quantization, spectral estimation, etc.
- Knowledge of Estimation theory including, Cramer Rao lower bounds, least-squares estimators, maximum likelihood estimation, etc.
- Knowledge of Detection theory including, Neyman-Pearson theorem, coherent versus noncoherent detection, matched filters, cyclostationary etc.
- Knowledge of Probability theory including, Gaussian random variables, random processes, chi-squared random variables, skewness and kurtosis, etc.
- Deep understanding of the underlying theories of signal processing including frequency translation, multi-rate processing, analog to digital sampling, digital to analog reconstruction, cross-correlation, real and complex signal analysis, time frequency analysis, wavelet transforms.
- Deep understanding of communication theory including modulation and demodulation, spread spectrum techniques, all domain multiple access, MIMO, multipath mitigation.
- Leading and establishing guidance across diverse teams is preferred.
- Design, development, and/or testing of SIGNT RF Antenna systems.
- Signal Processing in FPGA Devices.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proposal Development, requirements management.
- IRAD and Technical Baseline development/management.
- Bayesian Probability Modeling
- Probability Theory and Combinatorics.
- Leadership - Task or IPT Leader and/or Functional Management.
- Entire Program/Engineering Life Cycle Phases and Activities.
- Knowledge of/Experience with Radars.
- Microsoft Office experience.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of SIGINT, ELINT, and/or COMINT experience.
- Graduate Degree with 10 years of SIGINT, ELINT, and/or COMINT experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior SIGINT, ELINT, and/or COMINT experience.
- Active Secret Clearance required at the time of hire with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
- Must be a US Citizen.
