Job Description:
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer Scientist for our Greenville, TX location. This position would require FAA ODA Unit Member status. The role is responsible for reviewing aircraft modifications and repairs performed by L3Harris and issuing approvals on behalf of the FAA where appropriate.
This position can be remote but must be located in Greenville, TX, Fort Worth, TX, San Antonio, TX, Wichita, KS, or Oklahoma City, OK. location. Both options would require travel as needed.
Essential Functions:
- As an FAA ODA Unit Member, review aircraft modifications and repairs performed by L3Harris and issue approvals on behalf of the FAA where appropriate.
- Review electrical aspects of military aircraft modifications and repairs performed by L3Harris for compliance with military airworthiness certification criteria and issue approval recommendations where appropriate.
- Act as ODA Task Leader for some projects, tracking certification progress, schedules, budgets, and resolution of issues on behalf of the LHX ODA as well as providing strategic customer/applicant coordination.
- Guide other Unit Members, the applicant team, customers, and vendors through complex certification tasks.
- Provide input on establishment of new processes and standards for showing and finding compliance across programs to help the organization meet airworthiness standards while remaining competitive in the industry.
- Mentor Unit Member candidates as they gain experience necessary to achieve FAA delegations.
- Working with customers and program office to ensure aircraft is FAA certifiable and safe to fly.
- May be required to manage programs for ODA and airworthiness.
- Proficient in MS Office programs.
- Able to work Overtime and travel up to 20% as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoW Secret Clearance.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with twelve (12) years of electrical aircraft experience.
- Graduate degree with ten (10) years of electrical aircraft experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of sixteen (16) years of aircraft electrical experience.
- Must have eight years or more existing 14 CFR Part 23 or Part 25 FAA delegations (DER or ODA UM).
- Must be able to successfully pass an FAA Class III flight physical.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with FAA Order 8110.101 Type Certification for Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft.
- Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516 military airworthiness certification criteria.
- Experience with safety analysis, lightning, or EWIS approvals.
