Job Description:

The Lead, Systems Engineer (SE) performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and/or subsystems. The Lead SE is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
  • Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
  • Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
  • Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
  • Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
  • Perform requirement traceability.
  • Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
  • Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
  • Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs.
  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
  • Identify and solve problems using logical engineering thought processes.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
  • Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
  • Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
  • Working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
  • Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft.
  • Hands-on with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware.
  • Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.
  • Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose.
  • Systems engineering trade study process.
  • Writing subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
  • Conducting verification testing.
  • Developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10%.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with nine (9) years of prior technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation experience. 
  • Graduate Degree with seven (7) years of prior technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation experience. 
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation experience.
  • Must have an active Secret clearance at the time of hire with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active Top Secret with SCI security clearance and CI Poly.
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification.
