Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer with specialized expertise in radio systems, including HF, ARC-210, and AR-1500 radios. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in communication systems and will be responsible for the requirements development and management, technical risk identification, system design, system integration, verification and validation (V&V), liaison troubleshooting and sustainment efforts.
This position will support large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction. The candidate will communicate with internal leadership, external subcontractors and customer teams to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. The candidate will provide input into new products/processes and implement operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.
Essential Functions:
- Design, develop, and integrate radio communication systems, including HF, ARC-210, and AR-1500 radios, ensuring compliance with industry standards and platform requirements.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including software, hardware, and test engineers, to define system requirements and develop integrated technical solutions.
- Conduct system-level integration within a Systems Integration Lab (SIL), including configuration, testing, and validation of radio systems. Integration of radios with their respective control unit and LAN control within the SIL.
- Perform system modeling and simulation to analyze and predict the performance and reliability of radio communication systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to radio systems, providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, test plans, and integration reports.
- Stay current with advancements in radio communication technology and industry standards to ensure continuous improvement of systems and processes.
- Proficient technical writing skills (specifications, procedures, reports).
- Hands-on experience with HF, ARC-210, and AR-1500 radios including installation, configuration, integration and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of HF communication systems including propagation, modulation schemes, and long-range mission applications.
- Proficiency in requirements development, allocation, and verification (DOORS, Cameo, or similar MBSE tools).
- Knowledge of network protocols and communication standards used in military and commercial radio systems.
- Experience with airborne platform integration, technical specifications, wiring/interface control documents (ICDs), and data analysis.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Able to travel up to 10%.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Clearance.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with nine (9) years of experience with aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.
- Graduate Degree with seven (7) years of experience with aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.
- In Lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of experience with aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.
- Must be a US Citizen.
