Job Description:
The Lead, Systems Engineer (SE) position requires a highly skilled and experienced Lead, Network Systems Engineer that will lead a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, integration, and troubleshooting of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.
Essential Functions:
- Design and develop physical and logical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
- Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
- Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
- Perform requirement traceability.
- Perform systems engineering trade studies.
- Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
- Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
- Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system design.
- Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
- Develop and execute effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
- Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
- Lead a team to design, integrate and certify avionics systems on airborne platforms.
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
- Working successfully both independently and in a team environment with the ability to lead small test teams.
- Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware.
- Identify and solve problems using logical engineering thought processes.
- Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, and FAA documentation (Regulations, Advisory Circulars, Airworthiness Directives, etc.).
- Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general/transport category aircraft.
- Troubleshooting aircraft systems including diagnosis of malfunctions.
- Working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
- Willing and able to travel up to 10%.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with nine (9) years of Avionics Software and hardware experience.
- Graduate Degree with seven (7) years of Avionics Software and hardware experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of Avionics Software and hardware experience.
- Must have an active Secret clearance at the time of hire with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- CI Poly.
