Job Description:

 

The Lead, Systems Engineer (SE) position requires a highly skilled and experienced Lead, Network Systems Engineer that will lead a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, integration, and troubleshooting of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Design and develop physical and logical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
  • Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
  • Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
  • Perform requirement traceability.
  • Perform systems engineering trade studies.
  • Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
  • Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
  • Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system design.
  • Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
  • Develop and execute effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
  • Lead a team to design, integrate and certify avionics systems on airborne platforms.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
  • Working successfully both independently and in a team environment with the ability to lead small test teams.
  • Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware.
  • Identify and solve problems using logical engineering thought processes.
  • Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, and FAA documentation (Regulations, Advisory Circulars, Airworthiness Directives, etc.).
  • Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general/transport category aircraft.
  • Troubleshooting aircraft systems including diagnosis of malfunctions.
  • Working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10%.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with nine (9) years of Avionics Software and hardware experience. 
  • Graduate Degree with seven (7) years of Avionics Software and hardware experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of Avionics Software and hardware experience.
  • Must have an active Secret clearance at the time of hire with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • CI Poly.
