Job Description:
The Project Engineer (PE) is a multi-disciplined engineer responsible for the technical aspects of the program. The PE has technical authority from Engineering Leadership to execute assigned programs along with the Program Manager (PM). This includes but is not limited to:
- Planning and execution of program activities
- Documenting and approval of program plans
- Ensuring life-cycle process adherence
- Risk identification and management
- Customer and Senior Leadership interaction
- Overall program coordination during the program lifecycle
The individual Engineering Functional Task Leaders (Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Specialty Engineering, Logistic Engineering, Technical Publications, etc.) report to and take direction from the PE for the assigned program operations.
The PE manages the technical functions of the program through Project Work Authorizations (PWAs) as a joint effort with the PM. The PE coordinates with the Functional Managers in the utilization of Earned Value (EV) reporting to ensure consistency between the Functional and Program roll-up relative to performance against schedule and budgeted work scope.
The PE is also responsible for program technical performance that extends beyond the Engineering functions (such as Operations and IT) to ensure technical compliance within the total operations activities. In addition, Project Engineers are the key technical interfaces to Customers and have the responsibility/opportunity to interact with Customers at every phase of the program lifecycle.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of an engineering or technical degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Experience in one or more of the following disciplines may be considered (two or more preferred)
- Software Engineering/Computer Science
- Hardware Engineering
- Systems Engineering
- Information Technology
- Aircraft Modifications
- Demonstrated experience with the one or more of the following areas is required:
- Program planning, guidance, and engineering execution within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Understanding of engineering processes and policies
- Software development, integration, and testing/sell-off
- Leadership Skills (i.e., Task Leader, IPT Leader and/or Functional Management)
- Cloud compute and network integration
- System requirements development
- Aircraft integration and test
- An active Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
