Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking an experienced Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our Sensor Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of information security principles and practices, bringing deep expertise in vulnerability scanning, compliance frameworks, secure system design and Authorization to Operate (ATO) documentation.
Essential Functions:
- 10% travel based on business needs.
- Author and review security requirements, ensuring alignment with applicable frameworks and policies.
- Identify and implement significant improvements to security processes, systems, and controls.
- Prepare and deliver technical briefing materials for leadership and stakeholders.
- Provide input into new security products and processes with measurable impact on business and mission outcomes.
- Lead system requirements management, decomposition, traceability, verification, and validation.
- Define, analyze, allocate, and manage system, subsystem, and component requirements.
- Evaluate requirements flow-down, definition quality, and traceability.
- Conduct trade studies across hardware, software, and system design alternatives.
- Support hardware selection for mission systems, processing, networking, sensors, storage, and infrastructure.
- Develop and review verification plans, test procedures, and test reports.
- Resolve complex technical issues and support final platform trade-off decisions with Chief Engineers.
- Work closely with stakeholders inside of IT and within other business functions to enforce the organizational security strategy.
- Translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
- Contribute to security standards, architectural guidance and policy improvements.
Qualifications:
- Active US TS/SCI security clearance.
- DoD 8140.03 IASAE Level 2 certification.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Demonstrated experience authoring and reviewing security requirements.
- Demonstrated experience improving security processes, systems, and controls.
- Demonstrated experience developing and reviewing verification plans, test procedures, and test reports.
- Demonstrated experience with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Tenable, ACAS).
- Demonstrated experience working with ISR platforms, mission systems, sensors, payload integration, battle management command & control systems.
- Demonstrated experience with technical documentation, interface control, and requirement management tools.
- Demonstrated experience in performing trade studies and supporting technical decision-making for hardware and/or software selection.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence security practices across organizational boundaries.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Project management experience supporting large-scale, complex security initiatives
- Knowledge of radar, EO/IR, SIGINT, Communications or Networking
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methods
- Experience with DOORS, Cameo, JIRA or other lifecycle engineering tools.
- Familiarity with Sensor Infrastructure or similar complex system architectures.
