Job Description:
As a Senior level Database Architect, you will play a crucial role in developing, maintaining and supporting various business critical applications not supported by the broader company ecosystem and augmenting other resources as needed. The tools supported feed no less than 6000 peoples daily work and include both Homegrown and COTS applications. This role requires a self-driven individual who can work autonomiously and is also proactive in staying current with emerging technologies that will participate in efforts effectively with small teams of developers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Senior Level Database Architect who takes team requirements and autonomiously plans, provisions, develops, maintains, and enhances Business critical databases’ as part of a broader team
- Expert working knowledge of Oracle 19c -> ranging back into as early as Oracle 10g
- Expertise with database tools and utilities in both SQL on Windows and Linux platforms supporting various database versions and schemas(Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB. MS SQL, etc)
- Ability to manage database security, replication, and high availability setups.
- Strong understanding of database architecture and administration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new and legacy systems into modernized backup solutions to support failover and DR scenarios.
- Complete DR scenario of some utilities annually and provide enhancements to infrastructure configurations
- Personally, maintaining some self-driven or time critical projects.
- Stay updated with industry trends and technologies to ensure systems remain cutting-edge, patched all while reducing critical security vulnerabilities where applicable.
- Support development team and troubleshoot and resolve issues related to API integrations and microservices.
- Contributes to the design and architecture of scalable and efficient backend systems.
- Advocate and arbitrate with the team for best design based on requirements defined to be met.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Demonstrated experience with database management tools (Oracle SQL Developer, TOAD, pgAdmin, MySQL Workbench, HANA Studio, etc).
- Demonstrated ability to Monitor, fine tune and optomize database resources for maximum business efficiency/throughput
- Demonstrated Unix and powershell scripting skills and experience across various operating systems (Solaris, Linux, HPUX, Windows).
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a team and share knowledge. Demonstrated familiarity with Oracle utilities such as Data Guard, Recovery Manager (RMAN), Data Pump, and SQL*Loader.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Existing DoD Security Clearance of Secret or above which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Experience in software development with a focus on database architecture and system development, management, patching, upgrades
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Recent experience with major PLM, MES, ERP and Digital Engineering Solutions planning and upgrades.
- Experience and hands on exposure for working with large data migrations and data transforms.
- Aptitude in working directly with infrastructure/architecture across various virtualization platforms
- Comfort in uncharted digital territories with results delivery as it applies to business need.
- Certifications in Oracle Database Administration (e.g., Oracle 10g Certified Associate) and other database technologies.
- Experience with technical leadership roles and non-dba team members for cross training and bench strength needs.
