Job Description:
The Director, Labor Relations for L3Harris’ Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Sector, based in Greenville, Texas, will lead all aspects of union and labor relations strategy across a large, complex aerospace and defense manufacturing and engineering environment in both the United States and Canada. This role will partner with senior leadership, HR, and line leaders to develop and execute strategies that ensure constructive labor-management relationships, support business objectives, and maintain operational continuity. The Director will serve as the primary point of contact for labor negotiations, contract administration, and grievance resolution, while shaping long-term labor strategy for the ISR Sector and the Integrated Mission Systems segment.
Essential Functions:
- Lead collective bargaining negotiations for multiple bargaining units in the U.S. and Canada, including strategy development, proposal drafting, cost analysis, and direct participation at the bargaining table.
- Plan, implement, and maintain the company’s labor relations and contract management programs, supporting both short- and long-term workforce strategies.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing labor relations team to support collective bargaining, contract administration, and day-to-day union engagement across U.S. and Canadian bargaining units.
- Serve as subject matter expert on CBAs; provide policy interpretation and guidance to leaders on contract provisions, employee relations, wages, hours, and working conditions.
- Administer provisions of labor agreements to maintain positive and constructive labor-management relationships.
- Evaluate and analyze contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and provincial labor laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Provide leadership in grievance handling, arbitration preparation, and third-party complaint resolution, engaging legal counsel as appropriate.
- Furnish labor market and wage survey data, as well as insights on labor legislation and industry practices, to support negotiations and management decision-making.
- Develop and deliver training for HR partners and front-line leaders on labor relations practices, contract interpretation, and effective union engagement.
- Monitor labor trends within aerospace and defense to anticipate risks, inform bargaining strategies, and enhance long-term labor planning.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements; monitor operations and implement corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree and 14 years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Other requirements:
- Ten plus (10+) years of Labor Relations experience.
- Three plus (3+) years of management experience.
- Experience in contract negotiations.
- Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance which requires US citizenship.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Advanced degree in Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR), HR, MBA, or JD.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or large-scale manufacturing.
- Familiarity with UAW, IAM, and major Canadian industrial unions.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills to support wage and benefits cost analysis.
- Track record of building collaborative and constructive relationships with union partners across U.S. and Canadian contexts.
Experience supporting multi-site operations in a matrixed organization.
