Job Description:

Primarily the Fire Lieutenant supervises a shift of 9 Firefighters working a 48/96 Shift.  They respond as Incident Command (IC)  to Aircraft, EMS, Hazardous Materials, Structural Fire, Wildland Fire and other emergencies on the L3Harris-Greenville (L3Harris) Majors Field footprint.  Secondarily, Lieutenant is responsible for enforcing the L3Harris Fire Prevention Program requirements on the facility ensuring all inspections are completed on time and documented properly.  Ensures Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is donned properly by all personnel prior to entering the emergency apparatus.  Ensures daily and post emergency inspections of all apparatus an equipment including assigned PPE are conducted and documented; reporting discrepancies to the Fire Chief or Assistant Fire Chief.  Ensures all monthly fire extinguisher inspections are completed and documented in the  First Due inspection software platform.  Ensures all quarterly fire prevention inspections on assigned L3Harris facilities are conducted and documented on the L3Harris Fire Prevention Inspection Report. Ensures discrepancies noted during the inspection are reported to Facilities maintenance  for correction. Ensures monthly Fire Control Valve inspections are completed, documented the on the Fire Control Valve Inspection Repor; disccrepancies are reported to Facilities Maintenance for correction.   While wearing PPE conducts stand-by services on all Hazardous Operations defined by National Aeronautical Standard 3306.  Maintains proficiency as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician Basic through the L3Harris Fire Department Training program. Maintains the Fire Station and Apparatus in a constant VIP Visit ready status.  Completes other tasks as assigned by the Manager, Firefighter (Assistant Chief), Manager, Firefighter (Fire Chief).

Participates in the L3Harris Fire Department Physical Training Program; successfully completing initial and Firefighter Fitness Assessment in accordance with NFPA 1582, Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments, Chapter 8.  Maintains physical condition in accordance with NFPA 1582, Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments, Chapter 7.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Responds to Aircraft, EMS, Hazardous Materials, Structural Fire, Wildland Fire and other emergencies on the L3Harris-Greenville Majors Field footprint as Incident Commander. 
  • Responsible for enforcing the L3Harris Fire Prevention program on the facility.
  • Ensures daily and post emergency inspections of all apparatus an equipment including assigned PPE are conducted and documented.
  • Ensures monthly fire extinguisher inspections are completed and documented in First Due inspection software platform. 
  • Ensures quarterly fire prevention inspections on assigned L3Harris facilities, documenting the inspection on the L3Harris Fire Prevention Inspection Repor.
  • May work additional Overtime hours to cover other shift Lieutenant vacations or sick time.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance, which requires US citizenship
  • Must pass and maintain a National Fire Protection Association Standard 1582, Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments Physical Exam.

  • Must pass initial and annual Firefighter Fitness Assessment
  • Possess a current or able to get a Texas Class B Drivers License.
  • Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Fire Officer I/II certification
  • Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Fire Instructor I/II certification
  • Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Fire Inspector certification
  • Hazardous Materials Incident Command certification
  • Current Texas State Department of Health Services/National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Emergency Medical Technician -Basic Certification.
  • Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) certification within one year.
