Job Description:
The Associate Manager, Firefighter assists the Manager, Firefighter (Fire Chief) with the day-to-day operations of the Majors Field Fire Department. Primary emphasis will be supervising the Fire Prevention, Fire Alarm/Sprinkler Inspection program ensuring compliance with applicable National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Codes. Assist the Fire Chief to ensure compliance with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Instruction 8210.1D and National Aerospace Standard (NAS) 3306. Function as the Fire Chief when the Fire Chief is away on business, vacation, or sick. Interface with Greenville and Waco Fire Department leadership to build strong relationships. Completes other tasks as assigned by the Fire Chief.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise the Majors Fire Prevention program on the facility.
- Monthly fire extinguisher inspections are completed and documented in First Due inspection software platform.
- Monthly/quarterly fire prevention inspections on assigned Majors facilities and fire doors are completed and documented.
- Assist the Fire Chief with managing the Waco site fire protection program.
- Interfaces with Waco site EHS, Facilities and Operations management assisting the site Fire Protection Specialist as needed.
- Travel as necessary to conduct contract surveillance and assist the site Fire Protection Specialist.
- Attends meetings with authority to act on behalf of the Fire Chief.
- Respond to Aircraft, EMS, Hazardous Materials, Structural Fire, Wildland Fire and other emergencies on the L3Harris-Greenville (L3Harris) Majors Field footprint filling Incident Command System (ICS) roles as directed by the Fire Chief/Shift Captain on-duty.
- May work Overtime hours to cover shift Captain vacations or sick time.
- Participates in the Majors Fire Department Physical Training Program;
· Maintains proficiency as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician Basic through the Majors Fire Department Training program.
· Successfully completes initial and annual Firefighter Fitness Assessment in accordance with NFPA 1582, Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments,
Essential Functions:
- Responds to Aircraft, EMS, Hazardous Materials, Structural Fire, Wildland Fire and other emergencies on the L3Harris-Greenville Majors Field footprint as Incident Commander.
- Responsible for enforcing the L3Harris Fire Prevention program on the facility.
- Ensures daily and post emergency inspections of all apparatus an equipment including assigned PPE are conducted and documented.
- Ensures monthly fire extinguisher inspections are completed and documented in First Due inspection software platform.
- Ensures quarterly fire prevention inspections on assigned L3Harris facilities, documenting the inspection on the L3Harris Fire Prevention Inspection Repor.
- May work additional Overtime hours to cover other shift Lieutenant vacations or sick time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance, which requires US citizenship
- Must pass and maintain a National Fire Protection Association Standard 1582, Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments Physical Exam.

- Must pass initial and annual Firefighter Fitness Assessment
- Possess a current or able to get a Texas Class B Drivers License.
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Fire Officer I/II certification
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Fire Instructor I/II certification
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Fire Inspector certification
- Hazardous Materials Incident Command certification
- Current Texas State Department of Health Services/National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Emergency Medical Technician -Basic Certification.
- Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) certification within one year.
