Job Description:
The Associate Manager, Facilities leads, directs, and reviews the work of professionals or trades. Communicates within and outside own function to explain and gain cooperation on policies and practices. Makes moderate to substantial improvements to processes, systems, and solutions. Plans and establishes goals and objectives for a team with direct impact on the short-term operational results for the department. Requires practical knowledge in leading/managing projects, processes, and employees and has strong knowledge within professional discipline. Communicates with parties within and outside of own job function/area, which includes customers or vendors. Explains, interprets, and gains cooperation on policies, practices, and processes to others within the organization.
Essential Functions
- Support the indirect procurement of facilities-related goods and services, including sourcing, purchasing, and vendor coordination.
- Manage moderately complex projects and assignments related to facilities operations and procurement activities.
- Work independently under moderate supervision to establish priorities and meet operational and project goals.
- Communicate with internal teams, customers, and external vendors to explain and interpret indirect procurement and facilities processes, procedures, and expectations.
- Assist in evaluating vendor performance, negotiating terms, and maintaining productive supplier relationships.
- Identify, define, and resolve routine issues within the facilities procurement function by applying prior experience, standard procedures, and basic analysis.
- Make basic adjustments to systems and processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and service delivery.
- Contribute to operational targets within the department and support the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
- Provide guidance and assistance to entry-level professionals and support staff, as needed.
- Maintain procurement records, documentation, and compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with facilities, finance, operations, and procurement teams to ensure timely and cost-effective support of business needs.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance trades to include: automotive, maintenance mechanic, support equipment, and other trades within the maintenance environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Practical knowledge of facilities operations.
- Ability to work under moderate supervision while independently managing larger, moderately complex assignments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain processes and procedures to internal and external contacts.
- Ability to identify and address routine operational issues within the immediate job area.
- Basic analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to draw from prior experience and standard procedures.
- Ability to contribute to departmental operational targets and project milestones.
Desired Skills
- Management experience.
- SAP experience preferred.
- Experience working with facilities-related contracts, suppliers, and service providers.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong mechanical background, preferably in the automotive field.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic operational environment.
