Job Description: 

The Associate Manager, Configuration Management leads a team of experienced configuration and data management professionals, ensuring effective execution of CM processes across multiple programs. This role is responsible for managing scope, cost, quality, and schedule within their area of responsibility while driving process improvements, developing staff, and supporting business development activities. The Associate Manager serves as both a functional leader and a hands‑on practitioner with deep knowledge of configuration control and data management practices.

Essential Functions: 

  • Manage daily operations of the Configuration/Data Management function, overseeing personnel, processes, and program performance across cost, quality, and schedule.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members by providing direction, training, performance feedback, and guidance on technical and professional responsibilities.
  • Establish short‑term operational goals and support implementation of functional strategies that impact CM performance and program execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement by recommending and leading updates to CM systems, tools, workflows, and technologies.
  • Manage and execute complex CM projects or processes with broad oversight, ensuring compliance with internal and contractual requirements.
  • Utilize expert knowledge of configuration control and data management principles to solve complex problems, innovate solutions, and support cross‑functional program needs.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to gain cooperation, influence adoption of new practices, and collaborate on operational processes and procedures.
  • Support business development activities including estimating, writing subcontractor specifications and statements of work, and contributing to proposal responses and RFI/RFP packages.
  • Analyze and act on operational metrics to enhance team performance and ensure consistent, measurable improvement.
  • Forecast team workloads and support resource planning to meet program and organizational demands.
  • Provide input into personnel decisions including hiring, promotion, performance evaluations, and compensation recommendations.
  • Perform additional tasks or leadership duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • Must have prior Configuration or Data Management experience.
  • Experience with data marking, formatting, and handling of documentation.
  • An active DoD SECRET security clearance is required.

  • Proficient with Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong knowledge and skills within the field of Configuration Management and an

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain and gain cooperation on policies and practices within and outside the organization.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to draw from prior experience and in-depth analysis of issues
  • Experienced with Teamcenter PLM.
  • Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate orally and in written form.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented self-starter.
  • Strong knowledge of configuration management and data management processes, standards, and control methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage workloads, and drive performance outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across functions and levels of leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard CM tools/systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience implementing process improvements or leading CM modernization efforts.
  • Familiarity with staff workload forecasting and operational metric analysis.
  • Background supporting proposals or business‑development activities.
