Job Description:  

 

Seeking a Software Engineer, Scientist (L6), specializing in Systems and Software Architecture with advanced expertise in Data Architecture, Data Modeling, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) and SysML.   Experience and exposure to programs requiring and adhering to the Army’s GCS Common Infrastructure Architecture (GCIA) Specification which includes advanced knowledge and the “hands on” use of Data Architecture Modeling Level (DAML) constructs.  Understanding of the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE)  reference architecture and FACE Data Models is also required. 

 

Essential Functions: 

    • MOSA Systems (50%) / software development (50%)
      • Cameo/MagicDraw architecture modeling
      • C/C++ Software Development using existing tools
      • Requirements, test, systems architecture, software architecture, and design
        • Testing tools may include test frameworks in Python, C#
        • Software Coverage Tools
      • FACE Data architecture and Design
    • Development will support L3Harris mission systems integration architecture to support swappable electronics, sensors and effectors with associated software services to enable remote operations, automation and autonomy. The architecture will use the company’s FACE TSS digital backbone.
    • Development will support customer deployments of MOSA capabilities
      • Systems/software development of equipment, sensor, and cognition components in a FACE compliant manner. Examples include:
        • Sensor control
        • Data exploitation and reduction
        • Data mgt
        • Unmanned asset control
      • Systems/software development of integration software for advanced capabilities to be deployed in the framework
        • Integrating 3rd party AI classifier software
        • Operator HMI development
    • Meet with Internal and External customer base to understand needs and requirements to develop compliant technical solutions that meet their needs and budget limitations.
    • Understand and build relationships with the stakeholder and decision makers in the customer community to solidify our position as a trusted advisor.
    • Liaise with business development and provide engineering guidance to pursuits that are of strategic importance to the organization.
    • Ensure the logical and systematic development of total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints mapped against customer requirements and product capabilities.
    • Develop concepts of operations (CONOPS) and System Level Use Cases.
    • Champion the improvement of existing processes or establishing new systems using significant conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation.  Develops new concepts or technologies.
    • Travel expected to customer site in Detroit, MI and Palm Bay, FL to support program meetings

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 12 years of software experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of software experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of software experience.
  • Experience with VICTORY, FACE, GCIA & MOSA Standards.
  • Experience with UML/SysML Model-based development
  • Direct experience using Magic Draw Cameo tool suite
  • Experience with allocating, decomposing, and deriving requirements to subsystems and components and assure appropriate flow-down of design constraints.
  • Experience with Agile development principles.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of military standards and regulations.
  • Familiarity with the US DoD ground vehicle requirements a plus.
  • Applied working knowledge in the domain of software engineering development, systems engineering, and systems integration with a proven track record of product development throughout the entire product lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of Modular Open Systems Architecture standards/processes.
  • Must be able to communicate in a variety of settings, possess the ability to explain complex concepts to senior leadership.
  • Superior consultation, diplomacy, influencing, and negotiation skills is required.
  • Must promote collaboration and facilitate teamwork across the organization and its external service providers.
  • Must display exceptional listening and analytical skills to understand customer concerns and needs with the ability to respond promptly and effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to work effectively with the L3Harris team, suppliers, customer, and corporate parent staff.
  • High level of self-motivation and standards with the ability to multi-task; balancing analysis with “doing”. Must be adaptable and able to prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines.  Work on own initiative.
  • Ability to “dig deep” to technically understand and explain a system.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role  is $135,000 - $251,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
